About Alexa Meade
Alexa Meade is an award-winning artist celebrated for her work that makes real humans and three-dimensional spaces appear to be two-dimensional paintings. The New York Times has called her art "lushly hypnotic."
Among Alexa’s portrait subjects is Ariana Grande who she body painted for the iconic “God is a Woman” music video with over 400 million views, and according to ELLE, “broke the internet.”
Alexa is a TED Speaker and has lectured at Apple, Stanford, and Princeton. She has held the position of Artist-in-Residence at The World Trade Center, Google, and The Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics.
Her art has been exhibited at The National Portrait Gallery, Art Basel, and the Grand Palais in Paris. Alexa’s work has been auctioned at Sotheby’s and at The World Economic Forum in Davos, where Snoop Dogg placed the winning bid. Her work has been on billboards from Times Square to Tokyo and even on a SpaceX rocket orbiting the Earth.
As the Founder & CEO of Wonderland Dreams, Alexa took over a former Best Buy on Fifth Avenue and turned it into her solo exhibit that had over 100,000 visitors. Alexa is a LEGO Master Builder and she has been commissioned by Adidas during Coachella, Meta at Cannes Lions, BMW for their launch in China, Apple at their Fifth Avenue flagship store, and The City Beverly Hills for a solo exhibition on Rodeo Drive.
Honored with the "Disruptive Innovation Award" by The Tribeca Film Festival, Alexa’s trailblazing work is shaping art history. She has been recognized by Google Arts & Culture for embodying the spirit of Frida Kahlo, one of history’s most groundbreaking female artists. As a notable American figure, Alexa has been invited to The White House by several Presidents.

A Non-Traditional Career Path
A self-taught artist, Alexa Meade originally started her career in politics, working as a press aide for the 2008 Obama Campaign. In 2009, while finishing her degree in political science, Alexa had an idea for an art project: what would it look like if she put black paint down on top of shadows? This question took her down a rabbit hole of experiments with painting on and people and objects that led her to develop an optical illusion for turning 3D spaces into what appeared to be 2D paintings. Since then, it has led her to some very unexpected places.
"Alexa Meade is an artist who turns the traditional notion of art on its head — instead of capturing the real world on a flat canvas, the real world is her canvas."
